Writing is a form of communication. People write almost every day. As we know, social media plays a huge role in the society right now. It is known as the easiest way to communicate with others. While in business writing, it is most applicable to conversations or communication within the corporate world. Social Media doesn't have any rules while in business writing there are many rules to follow.
Social media refers to the means of interactions among
people in which they create, share, and/or exchange information and ideas in
virtual communities and networks (Communications, n.d.).
Purpose:
This depends on the writer's intentions.
- Some use social media to share important events or pieces of information that might be helpful for the public. For example, tweets about current weather conditions.
- There are some writers who just post regularly expressing their personal feelings and usually careless of what people might say.
- Another is to share photos or videos where social media users can post comments or reactions.
- It also serves a purpose for the business people who advertise their company and its products or services in social media.
Target Audience:
- Usually, when we post it is most visible to the public. For example, bloggers choose to post publicly because they are meant to share and interact with people in social media.
- But sometimes we choose to change our audience and limit it to our social media friends.
Content:
This depends on the purpose of our writing.
- Specific
business topics or academic information might be the content of someone's
post.
- Random ideas
or personal opinions may be in it.
- Information
about a company's location, number, or website (Only for promoting
businesses).
- Sharing
personal photos and videos or of public figures.
